Hi, my name's Damien and I'm a BACP registered  psychotherapist with over ten years experience working in private practice. I abide by the BACP Ethical Framework as well as attend monthly supervision. This enables me to provide responsible and effective work as a therapist.

I offer one to one Psychotherapy and Counselling in South Manchester, Heaton Moor Stockport. I offer in person sessions and also online via Zoom.

The core of my training has been in Transactional Analysis and I also have an interest in a wide range of Humanistic and relational focused therapies.

My training began at the Manchester institute for Psychotherapy where I completed 4 years of training in Transactional Analysis .I later completed further in- depth training and development, in Transactional Analysis, at the South Manchester Centre for Psychotherapy where I achieved an Advanced Diploma Award in Psychotherapeutic Counselling.

My experience as a therapist has given me a privileged opportunity to work with a wide range of people from diverse backgrounds. I have and continue to enjoy, and take pride in, supporting people to make positive changes

Alongside my academic pursuits I have devoted the past 18 years of my career to working with Adults with severe and enduring mental health needs and adults with Autism and Learning disabilities.

Inspiring change through connection

How can I help

How can I help?

Sometimes life can be challenging! We might feel stuck, lonely, frustrated, anxious. We might lack confidence, have low self esteem and struggle in relationships. Understandably this can be difficult to experience.

It's normal and understandable to seek connections with others. I also understand how difficult and frightening this can sometimes be.

Through relationship with others we can receive  support, encouragement, approval, acceptance and guidance. We can also experience empathy and compassion, kindness and care. This can allow us to grow and develop and make positive change.

Perhaps you'd like to feel calmer, more accepting of yourself and build confidence and develop new skills?

Maybe you'd like to have more rewarding relationships with others, learn to say No and set boundaries or even make peace with your past?

I work with people to move toward developing better relationships with both themselves and with others. I can work with you to explore your past, your feelings, thoughts, attitudes and behaviors and how they inform and influence the present. In doing this we can work together toward you finding new and positive ways of being in the world and building the life that you want to live.

Our first session is an opportunity to meet with one another and for you to get a sense of whether you feel comfortable and confident in our work together. This presents an opportunity to acknowledge important needs, concerns and goals and reach a mutual understanding of how we can work together in the times ahead. There is no obligation to continue therapy, with me, following this initial session.

If you think therapy can benefit you then please feel welcome to contact me to discuss how we can work together.
